Hello,
My name is
David Hammers and I among other things teach The Texas
Concealed Handgun/Right to Carry Program.  I have elected to try and make a
“go” of  this as my living .  I am at my  very best in a teaching environment that
allows me to do what I enjoy most, firearms and related instruction.  I have
worked in the firearms industry now for over 23 years and am formerly a
Paramedic (10 years) from Colorado.  I have taught the CHL course for going
into my 15th year (5 recertifications) and take the topic and relative gravity of
the course very seriously. It is no secret that the course is considered by many
to be the most comprehensive in the nation and a model for other states who
have gone to "shall issue" status.  I pride myself on attention to detail and topic
content, with emphasis on
“things you really need to know” while providing
the student with a comfortable and low pressure atmosphere.  This injected with
a little humor and enhanced subject matter make the day more digestible and
easy to absorb from the novice to the experienced "Shootist".
I only know how to teach one way and that is the right way so if you are
interested in the best education you can get. Give me a chance to prove it to
you.  Thanks,
Dave

The Instructor
(admittedly this is a "younger
rendition", edges are worn
down a bit... I just like the
picture.)
Firearms Training and How to
Carry Concealed.  I'll give you
the knowledge to help you
decisions.
Pricing and why I'm where
I'm at right now;

I like to think for what I offer it
is worth the added expense. If
you consider the cost of fuel
and the ability to get
everything done in one day,
from one location (typically), a
low stress environment,
personalized and thorough
training with an instructor who
is truly driven to teach and
enjoys it...
You might get a cheaper
class(!) but you won't get a
better one.

                    Why Pick me...

Trust me when I say I am aware of the
"enhanced expense" and have really gone
round and round with myself about the
pricing issue. (Have you ever just felt like
you were worth it?) This is what I have
come up with...

My class is really at its best for those who
fall into the following catagories;

Those who are tight for time and the typical
weekend classes are not compatible with
their schedule.

Those who really are uncomfortable in a
large classroom enviornment where you
are among 20-40 plus individuals.

Require or prefer a more personalized
setting where there is more one on one
interaction and low stress (ego's are
NOT
allowed).

Limitations whether physical,
enviornmental or logistical play a factor.
i. e. wheelchair, interpreter, etc.

Discretionary requirements (read secrecy
or you just don't want anyone to know).

Familiar grouping, such as families,
corporate, church, clubs, etc, where the
"misery loves company" atmospere is
preferred.

Those who are not intimidated by the
expense and want what they want and how
they want it.

Lastly, those who want the best class they
can get.
         On Firearms....

The state of Texas states that
for the purposes of
certification you must shoot a
firearm of .32 cal or above
(.380, 9mm, .38, .357, .40, .45
are all good) for the qualifier.

I will always recommend you
shoot a firearm you own
(typically...) and are
presumably familiar with...,
however it would be
reasonable to assume that if
you needed one to qualify
with, that could, (and would)
be provided at a rental rate
of $15.00. I have several to
choose from and factory
ammo is required at the
students expense.

If you qualify with a revolver
you are bound and licensed
by the state to carry
only
revolvers.

If you qualify with a semi auto
you are licensed for all forms
of handguns (no restrictions).

The state does not impose a
caliber limitation once you
are licensed, nor do they limit
the quantity of firearms on or
about your person as long as
you adhere to the letter of
the law.

Additional Training...

Occasionally a student comes to me with
the dilemma of being very interested in a
CHL but has yet to actually shoot a firearm
much less own one and is in need
(desparately) of some one on one training,
orientation, and "ballistic TLC".  This is not
uncommon and happens more than I care
with the student showing up for the class
with little or no knowledge and "wants to
shoot" for score (and I did not know that!!!).
This is all too often a recipe for disaster and
can be damaging at a psychological level
for the student (and me sometimes).
This is not a hard problem to solve and
typically can be remidied with an hours
worth of training.
I offer (and encourage) those who have this
issue to contact me and we can set up a
"prep class" for the CHL qualification (no
surprises & makes for an easy qualifier), or
just address person specific problems you
may have (technique, accuracy, advice)
I am well and extensively versed in the
operation cleaning and manual of arms of
most firearms as well as tactical application
and engagements.
I can even go so far as to help you find a
firearm that is (actually) right and
appropriate for you (trust me, this is a
common and reoccuring problem when
looking for a carry gun).

Cost for one on one lessons are $100.00
per person per hour with a minimum of an
hour.
(Couples and groups are welcome)
