What I bring to the Table:
Let me start by saying,... Don't ask me to work on your computer, because I will break it. Don't ask me to look at your car as you will end up going nowhere and, what ever you do, don't ask me to do your taxes as I will surely send you to jail. What I can do however is teach you about firearms, concealed carry, ballistics, and lethal force and the law. I am without a doubt at my very best in the Teacher,Instructor & Coach capacity. I have no interest in conducting a class that I don't have a strong and passionate belief in. I understand the students needs and approach the class as a student and what I would want to know if I were to carry a gun concealed on a daily basis (and I do),... everything. Not only the laws and what I can and cannot do but what happens if I am called on to use it, before, during and after the event. These topics are all too often approached in a cursory or shallow attempt that leaves the student uninformed and predictably, with a sense of false confidence and bravado (informationally unarmed, if you will). I don't like surprises and I bet you don't either. It is my hope to diminish these events and leave you stronger emotionally, psychologically and more confident in your ability to carry and right to defense. I come across a little intense at times but I believe this is not a negative if you carry the lessons of the class long after we have parted. To do less by you is a chance I am not willing to take and feel you deserve better. I assure you its with the best of intentions. I try very hard to cater to the specific needs of the student and specialize in accomodating where others can't or simply won't.
If you have had a criminal event in the last five years. I.E. class A,B or C misdemeanor (criminal mischief) or felony, restraining order, plead out, no contest,or deferred adjudication. We probably need to talk before you attempt to get your license. Once your application is sent in with the required payment to the state it is non refundable. The state of Texas states it takes a minimum of 60 Days to receive your license (not including weekends, holidays and shipping time) My obseravation is that it has gotten substantially better though. **You cannot carry without a valid license in your possession and this class does not constitute a licensure in and of itself. You still have to go through the application process and background investigation with the state. |
To Date... There are currently over 500,000 Valid CHL’s in the state of Texas as of 2012 The CHL replaces the required background check to purchase a firearm in Texas. (Does NO replace Federal Paperwork) The right to carry is more widely accepted by merchants and retailers than most people think and has only become more widespread as the number of CHL holders grows. All licenses are valid for a minimum of 4 years (expires on your birthday after the fourth year) Renewals are good for 5 years! Important note: If you were to submit your application at or in close proximity you could concievably add almost an entire year (5) to the normal 4 (and would carry over upon renewal to a potential total of almost a 6 year license!!! (just say'n...) There’s more to the new “Travelers Law” Than most people know…and should. Good news!! Some really good stuff has been introduced by the Texas state Legislature for 2011!! There’s a lot more where that came from..... Class Prices: Enroll Now New : 150.00 Renewal: 100.00 Heads Up!!! This does not include all outside services such as Fingerprinting, Photos, and qualifier (range, rental and ammo)

We are currently reciprocal with the following states... #1 Oklahoma #2 Louisiana #3 Arkansas #4 New Mexico (in flux...) #5 Florida #6 Idaho #7 Utah #8 Colorado #9 Georgia #10 Mississippi #11 Wyoming #12 Tennessee #13 North Carolina #14 South Carolina #15 Pennsylvania #16 Montana #17 North Dakota #18 South Dakota #19 Arizona #20 Kansas #21 Alabama #22 Kentucky #23 Alaska #24 Delaware #25 Michigan #26 Iowa #27 Indiana #28 Minnesota #29 Missouri #30 Nebraska #31 Vermont #32 Virginia and of course... #33 Texas
True reciprocity is where two or more states have entered into an agreement that allows the residents of those states the ability to share and recognize certain specific laws and regulations. This is considered a priviliage and not a right and should be approached with that in mind. These laws can be cursory or detailed in respect to what a visiting individual can and cannot do.
What is Reciprocity?...
More, Did you knows...
Something you Really, really need to know...
Something that often escapes the interested parties regarding reciprocity is the stark and all too different laws related to being out-of-state (night and day sometimes) It is to the benefit of the travelor to not only research the other state laws but also go so far as to check the political climate (how people are, including Law Enforcement) as well as general receptiveness with regard to carrying firearms much less owning them (ounce of prevention and all that...)
