Personal Observations on
the CHL Qualifier...

Okay, nobody likes to take
a test and that's a given,
but I have done a lot of
range qualifiers ( A LOT!)
and It is way easier than
most think and is usually
over well inside 20 minutes
 with comments following
like
"That's it?" or "That
was not as bad as I thought
it would be..."
(If I had a
nickle...).
My advice has always
been to be familiar with
your firearms operation,
(emphasis on safety and
range safety).
 The rest is
really pretty easy...
Although it is not a
requirement to take the
qualification at the time of
the class (typically thats
the point) I have of late
managed with classes as
small as one, to as many as
eight to accommodate a
"shoot " on the same day
as the class.  This makes
for a long day (about 12
hours total) but it is all
done, and you should be
ready to send in your
paperwork at that time if
you have your  online
application in hand.  Again,
you are not required to do
it on the day of the class.

                       Qualifications
I typically request these to be done on a
weekday as it allows me to do the qualification
in the same day. Other arrangements can be
made if necessary.

** I offer instructional classes as well, in the
Basic, Intermediate and Advanced use of
firearms as well as individualized coaching
sessions. Please feel free to call with any
questions you may have.
A Word on the Cheap Class;

I'm aware that my class cost a
little more than others and
feel in my heart that they are
worth it for what I have to
offer. This class is no joke
and the subject matter is of a
serious gravity and should
be viewed in that light. I
have bore witness to more
than my share of CHL
holders who have little
grasp of the law much less
the dire need for a real
education and found
themselves in the company
of an "Instructor" who could
not have cared less about
anything more than a fast
class and the shortest route
to a students money.
You get it all when you are
with me and I will do all I can
to not let you down.
Think about it.

It is probably no secret to my
Renewal students and those
who have been trying to reach
me that I have been "chronically
unavailable" for quite a few
months and to that I am sorry
and wish to make a formal
apology in the form of a brief and
cryptic explanation...
I have been debating on making
a statement on this subject since
I decided to start up my classes
again and to help the healing
process and possibly validate
the fact that I am human...
Very few years have been as
hard on me as 2010-2012 as I
have had a couple of life crisises
manifest that I had not planned
on, or for that matter ever
anticipated...
The details will be left to the
imagination but if you can ask
yourself "what are the top five
worse possible things that can
happen to a married man and in
this economy, who has a family"
and I'll just bet you will nail both
of them with little effort.
Anyway it left me feeling pretty
useless and without purpose.
I'm bett'n their are those who are
reading this that can relate.
I came to the conclusion that I
had (pretty much) two choices.
Shrivel up and die....
or in the immortal words of
REO Speedwagon...
"Roll with the changes" and
"Keep Push'n" I have two kids
who need me so they are the
motivation and my reason for
being.
(I know, the songs are given
away my age...).
Again, I'm sorry.
          nuff said on that,
                                  D.
