Hello,
My name is
David Hammers and I among other things teach The Texas
Concealed Handgun/ Right to Carry Program.  I have recently elected to try
and make a “go” of  this as my living .  I am at my  very best in a teaching
environment that allows me to do what I enjoy most, firearms and related
instruction.  I have worked in the firearms industry now for over a decade
and am formerly a Paramedic from Colorado.  I have taught the CHL course
for going on 9 years and take the topic and relative gravity of the course
very seriously. It is no secret that the course is considered by many to be
the most comprehensive in the nation and a model for other states who have
gone to "shall issue" status.  I pride myself on attention to detail and topic
content, with emphasis on
“things you really need to know” while
providing the student with a comfortable and low pressure atmosphere.  This
injected with a little humor and enhanced subject matter make the day more
digestible and easy to absorb from the novice to the experienced "Shootist"
I only know how to teach one way and that is the right way so if you are
interested in the best education you can get. Give me a chance to prove it to
you.  Thanks,
Dave

Warning,Something wicked this way comes...

To those of you who are of the female gender who venture to my sight I'm sure you (if you are female)
are sometimes wary of putting your trust (as you should be) in someone, an unknown male (in this day
and age) to educate you in what many consider a "male oriented role" when it comes to the topics of
firearms and personal self defense. To spend the day in it's entirety in the hands of someone else you
don't know from "Adams cat" can be at first consideration somewhat uneasy (and full of
misconceptions) until they have demonstrated their relative skill and been given the opportunity to win
your trust and confidence. First let me go on record by saying I have a much different take on what
someone, anyone can and cannot do given their relative desire and interest in a given topic. Animal,
vegetable, mineral, male, female it really doesn't matter if their is genuine interest and desire in a
specific discipline. Anyone can learn given the means to do so,.....And be really goods at it!!!
That being said, it is not uncommon that I am often asked if I give lessons privately and the answer is a
definite "maybe" as my time often comes at a premium and to date I have not yet sat down and
developed a solid curriculum and lesson plan much less what would be needed (logistics,
demographics, finances etc.) to make it a quality experience for the student while balancing out time
spent with fees and such. Recently I had the opportunity to teach a CHL renewal class in which my wife
Carrie attended (which is a story in itself) and during the qualification portion she was shooting right
alongside a well seasoned, well informed student who competed regularly and was very serious and
into the whole CHL persona, shooting a smaller more powerful firearm to his larger (less powerful) one
and proceeded to"smoke him" (his words) thoroughly. This was only enhanced by the fact she had not
"dropped the hammer" for over a year.  At that moment a thought started to swirl around in my head
and I approached her with an idea primarily geared toward the female sector regarding firearms
training and a real need for someone to provide a thorough well organized and complete course in the
basics of firearms handling. It occurred to me that with her already existing background as a
Communications Specialist/ 911 Dispatcher trained to talk to people, give critical instruction at the
worst possible moment of their life coupled with her passion for the shooting sports .....this could
work!  We are at this time laying the groundwork and compiling relevant information in the form of an
introductory course specifically designed toward this end. Stay tuned

                                                                                 Continued at a later date...

The Instructor
Firearms Training and How to
Carry Concealed.  I'll give you
the knowledge to help you
make educated and informed
decisions.
Pricing and why I'm where
I'm at right now;

I like to think for what I offer it
is worth the added expense. If
you consider the cost of fuel
and the ability to get
everything done in one day,
from one location (typically), a
low stress "couch"
environment, personalized
and thorough training with an
instructor who is truly driven
to teach and enjoys it...
You might get a cheaper
class(!) but you won't get a
better one.
